As promised here's the new comment fic meme. It would be great if you, dear members, could also help me promote this a bit on your LJs or tumblrs - the more people we are, the more fic there is. :)

A couple of rules:

- please include the pairing/character (and maybe a short prompt/kink) in the comment title - both for prompts and for fills.
- there are both show and book fans in this community, so please warn for book spoilers beyond ACOK in the comment title. Please also warn for things like non-con, violence etc.
- anonymous comments are enabled, but I'd appreciate if we kept them to a minimum. If you absolutely want to go anon, okay, but I'd rather we kept this as non-anonymous as possible.
- all prompts are welcome: smut, gen, romance, crack, fluff, angst, het, slash ... anything goes.
- and the usual: be civil, no character/pairing bashing, no kink shaming etc.

It's perfectly fine to reprompt ideas from the previous comment fic memes, the exchange or other kink memes. If you missed the previous fic memes, you can find the masterlists here and here. (Please don't accidentally post new prompts over there, nobody will see them. ;))

As with any kink meme, this is only fun if people also fill prompts, not if there are only requests.

Click here for the comment fic meme.

(In case you're wondering, it's over on the mod account journal because I don't want to enable anonymous comments here on the comm. Comments are disabled for this entry to avoid confusion.)

Unrelated: the poll about the next exchange will stay open until tomorrow, in case anyone still wants to vote.

The last entry of round three was posted today. You can find the masterlist [Poll #1852716]

Two more questions: do you want me to post a list of unfilled prompts like the last two times? I'm willing to do it, but I was under the impression that nobody really cared last time. Let me know if you want it.

Second: after the first two exchange rounds we had a comment fic meme here on this comm. Back then there was no very active kinkmeme yet, but now that there is one ... do you still want to do this? I'd love to have another because the last two were so much fun, but nothing is sadder than a fic meme in which nobody participates. So, comment fic meme yes or no?

Deadline

May. 27th, 2012 03:49 pm
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
The deadline is today. Unless we've agreed on an extension (or you've already sent in your fic/art, obviously), you should send me your fic/art by the end of the day. If there are any problems and you need a few more days, please let me know.

Posting starts tomorrow with one fic/drawing per day.

And the usual request to all members of the community, not just the participants: please, please comment. That should go without saying, but unfortunately it doesn't. Of course nobody expects you to read fics you're not interested in, but if you read something about your favourite characters and you like it, please take a minute or two to tell the author (or artist) that you appreciate their work. It doesn't need to be long; short feedback is better than no feedback. There's nothing more frustrating than putting a lot of work and time into a fic or a drawing and then nobody even bothers to comment when they read it. So, please, if you can take ten minutes to read a fic, you can take another minute to write a comment. :)

/modly nagging. Thanks to everyone who is participating in the exchange. I hope that you enjoyed it so far and that everyone will like their gift. :)

Hi everyone,

Another participant dropped out, so I need another pinch hitter. (And who knows, I may need some more if there are any last-minute disappearances in the next days. Not like that hasn't happened before.) If anybody would be willing to help out and write a second fic, please comment on this post. I'll contact you then if I think you would be a good match for the assignment in question - obviously you can still decline if you hate the prompts and don't want to write them. Of course you wouldn't have to send in the pinch-hit fic for the normal deadline on Sunday, but only in maybe three weeks.

Thank you so much. :)

EDIT: Got someone. :) Thanks again to everyone who offered to help out. I really appreciate it. And I might still contact some of you if there are any last-minute problems. Thank you. :)

Two weeks left until the deadline, and I hope you're all having fun with your prompts. ;) Please reply to this post to let me know how things are going with your fic/art. If you won't be done in time and need an extension, please tell me asap. If you have to drop out, please tell me NOW so I can find a pinch hitter. Don't string me along, don't wait until after the deadline to drop out, don't just disappear without a word. At least give someone else enough time to write/draw something for your giftee instead. If you don't reply to this post in the next few days, you'll get a pesky email from me. If you've already sent in your fic or already talked to me about an extension/dropping out, you obviously don't have to check in again.

When you send in your fic: please include html coding for italics etc. I would prefer to get your fic as a text file, but if for some reason that's a problem, doc, docx or odt are also fine. Just please make sure that your formatting works properly. (If you use Word, make sure that you actually have a blank line between two paragraphs.) Your fic should also be beta read or at least spell-checked very thoroughly.

For both fic and art, please include a header:
Title:
Author/Artist:
For:
Pairings/Characters:
Rating:
Words:
Warnings: (don't forget to warn for spoilers)
Prompt:
(Summary, if the prompt was rather vague)

Thank you. :)

The deadline for the exchange is in exactly three weeks, Sunday, May 27th. If you already know that you won't be able to finish on time and need an extension, or that you won't finish your assignment at all and will drop out, please let me know as soon as possible. There will be an official check-in post in a week or so, this is just a reminder.
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
All the assignments have been sent. Please make sure you have received an e-mail from gotexchange[at]hotmail[dot]com. If you haven't, please tell me right away. I hope everyone is okay with their assignments. It wasn't always easy to come up with a solution that would work for everyone, but I hope that I've managed. In most cases, you probably won't like all of the prompts you've been given, but I think that everyone should have at least two or three prompts about characters/pairings they like.

As I said before, if you have any questions about your prompts, please contact me, not your giftee. If you have to drop out, tell me as soon as possible so I can look for a pinch hitter. Don't just disappear without a word.

We have an amazing total of 43 participants this time, that's 8 more than for the last round. Thanks to everybody for participating. :) I hope that you like the prompts you've been given, and that you'll enjoy writing/drawing them.

The sign-ups for the exchange close on Friday. If you want to participate and you haven't signed up yet, you shouldn't wait much longer.

Sign up here.

I also wanted to remind you that we have a sign-up post for beta readers. Unfortunately not many people have offered to beta so far. So if you're willing and able to beta read for other writers, please comment on this post. :)

My thanks to everybody who has already signed up. You will get an email with your assignment on Saturday/Sunday (depending on your timezone).
[identity profile] linndechir.livejournal.com
If you're willing to beta read for other writers in the exchange, please fill in the little form down there.

Dear writers, I strongly suggest that you have someone beta read your fic, unless you have absolute confidence in your ability to catch all your typos and mistakes yourself. Don't be shy. The people on this list sign up because they want to help, so you can go ahead and contact them. :)

Beta sign-up:

Your name?
How can you be contacted?
What kinds of feedback can you give? (spelling, grammar, style, characterisation etc.)
Are there any fics (genres, characters, pairings) you refuse to beta read?
Anything else?

The poll has been up for almost a week and there haven't been any new votes since Tuesday, so I think it's safe to close it now. Unfortunately there wasn't an unambiguous result like last time. But we do have 9 votes for "right way" and 10 for "April/May", and I think it's fair to assume that everyone who voted for "right away" would also be okay with starting the next exchange in April rather than mid-March, and that would give us 53% (19 out of the 36 votes) who would be okay with April/May.

I know that's unfortunate for the other half who voted for May/June or June/July, but I think it makes more sense to do this at the earliest possible date and just do another exchange during the summer months, rather than sit around and do nothing until June. If you don't have the time to participate in April/May - don't worry, there will definitely be a summer exchange that might accommodate you more, probably starting in July rather than in June. :)

Considering the result for the duration of the exchange, I think 7 weeks, like we had this time, is a fair compromise.

So unless there are any huge disadvantages I've overlooked, this is the schedule for exchange #3:

The sign-up post will be posted on THURSDAY, MARCH 29TH
Sign-ups will close on FRIDAY, APRIL 7TH
Assignments will be sent out on SATURDAY, APRIL 8TH
The deadline is SUNDAY, MAY 27TH
Posting will begin on MONDAY, MAY 28TH

I hope this schedule works for most of you. I apologise to everyone who won't be able to participate, but I'm afraid it's impossible to find a schedule everybody is happy about. If you can't participate this time, I hope to see you around again for the summer exchange.

If you want to participate, but there are smaller problems, just talk to me. Someone told me they wouldn't have internet access during sign-ups in April, but it's perfectly fine to send me your sign-up via email earlier (as an exception, obviously, I prefer to have all the sign-ups in one post). Or if you want to participate, but you have a ton of exams at the end of May, I'm sure a small extension in early June would be possible, as long as it's not a whole month. When in doubt, just ask me and we'll try to figure something out. :)

Unrelated: the comment fic meme is still running. We're already well over 40 fills. You can still post new prompts, and there are also many unfilled prompts just waiting to be written. Let's keep this going for a little longer. :)
